Preamble

Circa sometime in March of 2004, while under severe pressure at work (someone quit and his responsibilities were dumped on me; we’re going through Yet Another Merger, which generates all sorts of additional work and long hours; etc. etc. ad nauseum), I realized that I was not scheduled for vacation until July.  A good friend convinced me to speak to my manager and ask for a week off sooner than that.  Fortunately, I listened to him, and the next thing I knew, I had booked myself at the Pop Century, Tuesday 20 April through Monday 26 April 2004.
